WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Charitable Giving Coalition (CGC) responded today to the newly released Giving USA 2026 report, which shows that total charitable giving reached $617.20 billion in 2025—representing a 5.7 percent increase in current dollars (3.0 percent adjusted for inflation). The Coalition issued the following statement:

“The Giving USA results for 2025 reaffirm what we see every day: Americans remain deeply committed to supporting charitable and faith-based organizations that feed the hungry, educate the next generation, respond to natural disasters, and strengthen communities across the country, said Brian Flahaven, Chair of the Charitable giving Coalition. “While total giving reached a record high, and grew even after adjusting for inflation, we remain concerned that individual giving continues to lag behind broader economic growth.”

“Reversing this trend will require policies that expand the pool of donors and make giving more accessible, particularly for households that do not itemize their taxes. The recently enacted charitable deduction for non-itemizers, included in Congress’s tax reform package last year, is an important step forward. By providing more Americans with an added incentive to give, this policy over time will help expand charitable participation and support the organizations that are vital to our communities. The Charitable Giving Coalition is proud to have worked in a bipartisan manner to make this new deduction a reality.  We look forward to advancing and promoting this important incentive in the year ahead.”
